“being totally responsible for one’s life and behavior is an ideal principle to live by”
We believe that human beings have an innate ability and desire to learn; that they are naturally curious. If this eager desire to learn is not hampered and/or restrained by authoritarian methods, principles, and actions, motivated by mysticism, guilt, fear and coercion; this eagerness to learn will be spontaneous and continuous. We believe that freedom and spontaneity stimulates growth, and increases knowledge. Therefore, the Church of Individual Responsibility was originated for the benefit and purpose of establishing an environment which encourages members to seek knowledge, to grow, and to develop their innate human potential.
The meetings and educational facilities are informal and unstructured. They do not have a definite pattern that must be followed. Rather they are designed to stimulate the exchange of ideas and increase knowledge.
Church socials are varied, and members volunteer their services in preparing, financing and electing which activities they desire for specific occasions.
Our scriptures are a compilation of ideas derived from the concept that the basic nature of human beings (their needs and desires) is to survive and be happy. The scriptures are inspired by the higher intellect and emotional nature of the individual. They are discussed between the members and approved by the Board of Trustees as the basic tenets of the church. An individual member may add to their book of scripture any additional written, or pictorial, ideas which express their personal values.
The Church of Individual Responsibility has a parish, retreat and recreational center where the members attend meetings, hold socials, play, relax and meditate, perform weddings, and receive coaching (counseling). Other facilities may be added when necessary for the members benefit, needs, and growth of the church.
